Things That May Surprise The Tourists Who Come to Indonesia. When you visit Indonesia, there are some differences things you will see and this little writting show us how Indonesia like :

1.      Motorcycle

Tourists who come to Indonesia will be surprised by a lot of motorcycle on the street. This condition is very different with in America or Europe. There are some reasons why Indonesian like riding motorcycle. First, the price of motorcycle is much cheaper than a car. Second, motorcycle need less gasoline than a car, it means that they will economize the money. Third, they can break through in the traffic (my own experience). There will be a lot of traffic with a lot of motorcycle on special days like new year and few days before Eid Fitri (Moeslim holiday after Ramadan). The people who work out of town will come back home to celebrate Eid with their family. So there are usually a lot of traffic at that time. Also there will be traffic of motorcycle in work or school hours. Many students are riding motorcycle to the school as well.

 2.      A large parking spot

As I said before that there are a lot of motorcycles in Indonesia. Automatically, we can find motorcycle parking spot every where. Even many tourists are surprised when they find a very large parking spot at the shopping center, like in Malioboro. It’s one of a shopping center in Yogyakarta.

 3.      The kiosk that sell gasoline in the bottle

In U.S, We will never find the gasoline vendor except at the gas station. In Indonesia, we can easily find them. The vendors usually buy at the gas station and then they resell them. They buy from the gas station for 7.300 IDR/ litre (around 73 cent), and they resell for 8.000 IDR/litre (around 80 cent). It means that they have a profit of it, 700 IDR (7 cent).Their existence also help the people who out of the gas on their way to the certain places that far from gas station.

 4.      Warung Lesehan

What is lesehan? I think that not many people have heard about that. It’s eating style without chair and they usually eat by hand (without spoon) with some special menu like sea food,roasted chicken, fried pigeon, satai, etc. We have different typical foods in different places. In Jawa, it’s usally sweet and spicy. 

Most of the Warung Lesehan are opened in the evening till midnight. But recently there a lot of new restaurant with lesehan style comes with fishing place around it. The visitors can pick the fresh fish from the pond and then roast the fish right away.

Some of menus at the lesehan. There are grilled fish, fried tempe (soybean fermentation)and tofu, chicken with sambal (condiment), soupe, etc. Those are look yummy!
